Get ready for some excitement! Today, Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 16 Event, along with its new AI initiative, Apple Intelligence. Although Apple has been a bit late to the AI scene, its entry is generating plenty of buzz.
We got a teaser of Apple Intelligence at WWDC, but today we’ll get a detailed look at how it will be integrated into the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro. Expect updates like new color options and enhanced cameras, plus other surprises. The 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch is also on the agenda, with speculations about a larger screen and a slimmer design. Additionally, the AirPods lineup might see new entry-level and mid-tier models.
The event kicks off at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT, and we’ll be live from Cupertino, California. You can follow the updates here and via the live stream.
Apple Intelligence
At WWDC 2024, Apple introduced “Apple Intelligence,” a suite of AI features for its devices. This includes a more interactive Siri, custom AI-generated “Genmoji,” and GPT-4o access, allowing Siri to consult OpenAI’s chatbot when necessary.
Apple, which previously avoided the term “artificial intelligence,” is now catching up with the AI features offered by Google, Microsoft, and others. These features will be available on iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models, as well as on iPads or Macs with M1 or later chips, but only in English. They will roll out this fall with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia.
What to Expect from the ‘It’s Glowtime’ iPhone 16 Event
Apple is gearing up to launch the iPhone 16, which is anticipated to be its most advanced phone yet, especially the Pro models. It’s also expected to be the first to feature Apple Intelligence.
Alongside the iPhone 16, new watches and AirPods are expected, along with additional AI capabilities such as on-screen understanding, enhanced Siri, image generation, and call recording/transcription features. The term “glowtime” likely refers to the glow effect seen around Siri’s activation edge in iOS 18’s latest betas. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests “glow” might also be the internal name for macOS Sequoia, set to be released around the same time as iOS 18.
New Processors for Enhanced AI
Apple Intelligence demands powerful processors. Traditionally, Apple has used the previous generation’s top processor for the base iPhone model and introduced a new, stronger chip for the Pro models. The iPhone 15 Pro’s A17 Pro chip supports Apple Intelligence, but rumors suggest the iPhone 16 models will feature a new A18 chip. Expect new Apple Watches and updates to the AirPods lineup as well.
iPhone 16 Camera Updates
The iPhone 16 will debut new colors and a slightly different rear design. Leaked dummy units show a vertical camera lens arrangement, a shift from the diagonal setup seen since the iPhone 13. This change may improve landscape video capture for the Vision Pro. Although no updates to the Vision Pro are anticipated, Apple’s mixed reality technology should remain engaging for customers.
The iPhone 16 lineup is also expected to feature improved battery life. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 16 Pro might finally have the same camera capabilities as the Pro Max, including the exclusive 5x “tetraprism” telephoto lenses and a 48MP sensor for the ultrawide camera.
iPhone Price in India
